My little fluffy helper!

Today I'm taking inspiration from a post by the lovely Sarah (Temporary:Secretary) about her gorgeous kitty Oscar and from photos Leona (Thrift-ola) has been posting on her Facebook page of her furry helpers - so I introduce you to Willow, my little Kitsch-tique (not so much) helper!

This pics were taken by my best friend, Hannah when she came to visit. We're both kitty owners, so our weekends together usually result in cat photo shoots!

Unfortunately, he's more of a fan of posing than doing any actual helping....

Super, super cute! (Although I am slightly biased....)

We've recently opened a shop on Folksy - home to lots of amazing independent designers.

Interior Design by the lovely Emma Seddon

Earlier this year, lovely Interior Design student, Emma Seddon, contacted me to ask if she could base one of her projects on Kitsch-tique.

I jumped at the chance and just wanted to share with you the amazing work that Emma did!

Here's Emma's description of her design:

The basic overview of my design is I've combined a workshop area within the shop, to act as an area for you to work and also for opportunities to host workshop days or to use the area to host events. The building I've chosen is within Sheffield city centre, just off the main high street but down a quaint cobbled street, the building has a very homely feel which I've tried to reflect within the interior. 

The first section acts as the hall entrance, but also consists of a desk area which can double up as the sales point but also a work space for you. 

The second section is the living room and workshop, this area also is home to the jewellery display. 

The 3rd section is the kitchen which is linked to the previous area by a large L shaped workshop table. 

There's also a yard to the back which can be used to host events again. 

I absolutely loved the design and was honoured that Emma wanted to base her project on Kitsch-tique!

I'm sure Emma has an amazing career ahead of her, and if I ever open a Kitsch-tique bricks and mortar shop I'll be asking for her help!

Lion Rescue - Call for donations!

The lovely team at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Branton, Near Doncaster are currently embarking on a massive task - to raise £150,000 to rescue a pride of lions from a zoo in Romania and rehome them in a purpose built 7 Acre reserve.

"For Anetta and 13 other kings and queens of the jungle - some too weak to stand or even roar - the future is looking very bleak, they are to be SHOT unless something is done to save them.

The squalid, ramshackle Romanian zoo that has been their home all their lives has been condemned as unfit for animals by the European Union.

And its director has no money to build proper enclosures to replace the tiny 15ft by 12ft cages into which up to FOUR lions at a time are crammed.

"We cannot afford to do any more for them," said Daiana Ghender, 43, who is in charge of the state-run zoo built 37 years ago under the communist regime of Nicolae Ceausescu. "I feel terrible when I look at them. They are sick and do not have the space for their bodies."

There is only one way they can escape their fate. Backed by the News of the World, the Yorkshire Wildlife Park wants to bring all the lions to Britain. They need to raise £150,000 to ship the animals to the UK and create a proper enclosure for them to live in comfort."

Sorry for the lack of recent posts - I've had lots of Internet shaped problems recently, making running an online business pretty interesting. I think its all sorted now, although perhaps I shouldn't speak too soon!

Ok, ok, I'm rubbish at blogging! But in my defence last week was really busy and full of various disasters!

Temporary:Secretary started in 2008 to offer you an alternative to high street. Everything is handmade unless otherwise stated. Charms and pendants are sourced from vintage collectors and findings suppliers from all over the world. All jewellery are put together by hand by the lovely Sarah.

Fimo Adventures

I had a go with Fimo (Polymer Clay) sometime last year, I bought a load of the clay and tried to make something that looked like Hello Kitty. Its fair to say that patience isn't my strong point and so, needless to say, I wasn't very successful. So the Fimo ended up being sold on Ebay! I decided that 2009 was a good year to start learning a new type of craft and so I armed myself with lots of info off Craftster and various tutorials on Youtube and had another go - this time with slightly more patience, and a bit more of a clue of what I was doing!

The pie after baking - really pleased with these, they just need some glaze and then I'll be able to make some fab jewellery with them!

Another cake - its not obvious I'm dieting at the moment is it! Luckily I'm not that good at making them look realistic yet or otherwise I would've been trying to eat them! I've also been working on some new button bracelets - but I'll save them for my next post. Hope you have a lovely weekend! x

As an avid reader of lots of other blogs (See my blog list on the right hand side), I've always felt as though I'd have nothing interesting to write and I'm not much of a writer! But I've given in to pressure and started a blog for my business Kitsch-tique.

Expect news, info about new products, and special offers - and quite probably lots of pictures when I can't think of anything to write!
